My new mixer
Overall a great mixer. However, I experienced two problems. Firstly, the 10mm lock pin broke of the handle during assembly. (I repaired it my self). After assembly I noticed when the drum was revolving it what I would call a tight spot between the drum and the pinion. I corrected this by shimming the bowl where it bolted to the spigot assembly (6 bolts). I believe you should bring these problems to your quality control so they can be corrected.
Assembly 70ltr cement mixer
Hi, I'm a woman in my 60s. I bought the 70ltr mixer as I felt it would be manageable for me - and it's the perfect size! Assembly instructions were a bit sketchy in parts. Firstly, I feel the circlips to keep the wheels in place is a bad design choice. It takes a bit of strength and perseverance to get them on. One pinged across the garden, forever lost! I had to find an alternative way to attach that wheel, which I don't believe will last very long. When putting the drum together, nothing is mentioned on how to attach the rubber lining. On reflection, I think I put mine on upside down. The MX x12 (E) screws were not supplied with a cap nut. There weren't either any leather washers to place under the mixing blades either. Added to which, the blade positioning is not clear. I'm not confident that I placed them in correctly so I googled for an assembly demo, but couldn't find one? As a side note, the drums arrived a little bit banged up. I had to knock out part of a dented rim on the upper drum so that it fit over the lower rim. A plus factor is that I was able to put it together entirely on my own without too much trouble. I'm really happy with how easy it is to maneuver around. Now to get on with some work!
Value for money
So far I have only just assembled the unit and made sure it works, Which it does. I am sure it will be a great little cement mixer for small jobs but I want to use it for cleaning / tumbling old relics. I do a bit of this using different methods but when it comes to old chains etc I think this will be the best. I'll load it with sand, water and probably detergent, add my parts and give it a tumble for ? long. I believe this will work great and add a lot of different items to my collection / private museum. Just a different string to my bow and if I need a cement mixer I'l have it on hand.
