Check the testing video of Forestwest 18ton Kinetic Log Splitter splitting red gum.
Upgraded with heavier and stronger flywheel system, generate more power to split hardwood. Stronger stand and bigger wheels for high maneuverability.
This Forestwest 18ton Log Splitter BM11097P, is a more advanced model call Kinetic Log Splitter. Tested with Jarrah, Yellow Box, String Bark, and Red Gum. It is a lot more efficient with only 2-3 seconds per split cycle, much faster than hydraulic ones. And it required very low maintenance, you only need to keep it clean and lubricated.
18ton Kinetic Log Splitter BM11097P can generate up to 18ton splitting force, powered by a 3hp 4-stroke petrol motor.
This machine is up about waist high with a stand, so you don't need to bend over to do any splitting, and the front tray will catch all the split pieces ready for the next split. The recommended log size is 350mm long and 350mm round, while the max log size is 400mm long and 400mm round (this may vary for different types of wood). Perfect for domestic use.
Please be advised, the motor has been changed to RATO 3hp one, mainly because the original 3.5hp petrol motor will spin the flywheels too fast, therefore cause unnecessary wears on the gears, the Rato 3hp one has a more suitable speed.
NOTE: For Petrol Engine: Adjust the speed of the engine to make sure the cycle time is around 2-3 seconds. It is recommended to try and split at a lower speed, and gradually increase the speed of the engine if necessary. Engine running too fast may cause extra wear to the gears inside. Please also wear necessary safety gears(gloves, goggles, safety boots, etc.) during operation.
18ton Kinetic Log Splitter Features:
For kinetic log splitters, the average cycle time is about 2s to 3s, much more efficient than other models.
This 18ton log splitter has been tested with Australian hardwood, like Jarrah, red-gum, stringy bark, etc.
This petrol log splitter is more flexible with the petrol motor - no need to find a power point for operation.
This 18ton log splitter can split firewood up to 400mm long and 400mm in diameter, suitable for most cases.
This splitter is on a stand to avoid bending for operation, easy to use. Large wheels makes it easy to drag around.
Perfect for residential use or small rural areas. If you are tired of the slow motion of hydraulic splitters, this could be the right choice for you.

I'm in Sydney and purchased the 18ton kinetic log splitter from Melbourne on a Wednesday and it arrived on Thursday. There was a slight issue with the wheel stand, Forestwest rectified this problem by sending a replacement part very promptly. I assembled the log splitter and had a feeling it would be underpowered, but I had no problem splitting even my largest log the first time. I couldn't be happier with this product, it saves my shoulders and back from manual splitting. Wish I had of bought it year ago.
Easy to use and does the job on hardwoods with ease. Some problems with assembly however as throttle spring came too stretched and throttle would not work. Spring had to be re-tensioned and crimped. Kinetic principle is a winner for me over hydraulic.
It is easy to start - easy to use - safe to use (2 handed operation) - splits hard wood easily and fast - has a catching tray. Assembly instructions a bit on the 'lean' side (need more attention to this) but it is not complicated to assemble. Easy to service/maintain. It is a great, simple robust splitter. Very happy.
